We are very excited to head back to Linga Longa Bike Park for the 2017 WA Gravity Enduro State Championships!

This event is not to be missed – be a part of the inaugural event which sets the foundations for Enduro State Championships in Western Australia! Racing is simplified compared to the 2017 Series in order to provide a level playing field to clearly see the 2017 State rankings. 6 special-stages for all categories taking in some favourites including the new ‘Devin’s Descent into Madness.’

Additionally, we are including 1 x shuttle lift that you can use strategically during the race – use straight away to perhaps get a clear run, use at the end as the legs get tired or just use it when you feel like it! Trailer to be 50% full before departing shuttle area.

No MTBA insurance? No problem! All competitors who enter the WAGE State Championships will be automatically covered by Mountain Bike Australia (further information available here). There will be no additional day-license fees applicable during Saturday’s practice or Sunday’s race.

And our awesome WAGE Wippets (U13)! A 2 stage race on Saturday beginning at 11am. You will be shuttled to the trail head, race down one stage then must ride to the top to complete your final stage. Presentations to follow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the course map?
Gravity Enduro is all about riding the course with little to no knowledge of the course. This helps create a more level playing field and better tests your mountain biking skills. We usually release the course map on the Monday before the weekend’s race.
Do I have to go to race briefing?
Yes. Race briefing is mandatory and occurs at the race village 15 minutes before race start. It is essential that you get a full report on the course (and any potential changes), safety requirements and to ensure everyone starts the race from the same location.
Are shuttles permitted?
Unless explicitly written and communicated, shuttles are not permitted at any time during the race. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.
How does the timing system work?
You are given a wrist band that you must wear on your right wrist. You will see a ‘timing box’ at the start gate and finish gate of each stage. ‘Tag-on’ and ‘tag-off’ at these timing boxes using your wrist band – similar to the Transperth Train service tagging system. Your tag records and stores the time on each timing box. We collect these up at the conclusion of the race and run it through our custom software to generate your race times. To ensure no additional fees, return your wristband after the race. Lost wristbands will incur a $15 fee.
Can I get a refund or transfer an entry?
Less than 7 days from event – no. Refunds or transfers to other competitors or other races are not possible. Injury with a doctors note will be considered. We have booked in all necessary equipment based on your race entry at this stage. More than 7 days from event – yes. We will refund your entry (minus 10% administration fees and charges).
Missing registration cut-off!
Due to additional administration duties, a $15 surcharge is applicable for competitors who register in the Late Registration time period. Depending on the event, race day registrations may be possible but are limited and will incur a $25 late fee. Contact steve@wagravityenduro.org as soon as possible.

Goat Farm. Greenmount is one of the closest mountain bike trails to the Perth Metro Area offering copious amount of trails, links and shoots which allows us to create many unique Gravity Enduro race courses. With long views back to the Perth CBD from the ‘nipple,’ the reasonable elevation is made up with technical trails, unforgiving rocks gardens and plenty of jumps! The Goat Farm is not only a challenge for the competitors but certainly keep the organisers on their toes as well! With WAGE hosting the MTBA National Series here in 2015 and off the back of a wet and muddy 2016 course, what will 2017 throw up at us all?

Open face helmets permitted! Thanks to MTBA, we can now confirm that open-face style helmets are permitted for Margaret River, however, fullface helmets are strongly recommended.

BUT, only as a condition if you agree with the following waiver which must be signed Sunday morning at the race village. If you do not agree with the following waiver, full-face helmets are mandatory.

Additional Rider Liability Waiver Information for WA Gravity Enduro Round 5 – Margaret River, 23rd July 2017

WA Gravity Enduro strives to implement the necessary insurance conditions to promote and prioritise safe mountain bike racing for all volunteers, marshals, organisers, spectators and competitors to the best of our ability and to reflect this, WA Gravity Enduro must now enforce full-face helmets as an extra level of safety for our competitors when racing in the Gravity Enduro format. In addition to the MTBA Event Waiver found here and the WA Gravity Enduro Terms and Conditions found here, competitors are permitted to wear their Australian Standards open-face style helmet when competing in the Gravity Enduro race format for Round 5 of the WA Gravity Enduro 2017 Series in Margaret River on the 23rd July 2017 only. Competitors who choose this level of safety equipment do so at their own risk as their Mountain Bike Australia insurance cover may not apply if an injury occurs as a result of facial, neck, spinal damage or similar injury. Competitors must determine their own level of safety equipment based on their own assessed level of mountain biking skill and experience in racing. At no time can Mountain Bike Australia, WA Gravity Enduro, sponsor, supporter, competitor, volunteer, marshal, organiser, spectator or any other affiliated person or entity be sued for damages as a result of injury if a competitor chooses to wear an open-face style helmet for Round 5 of the WA Gravity Enduro 2017 Series in Margaret River on the 23rd July 2017.

WA Gravity Enduro present the final event results to MTBA for their overall Series points allocations

Ever dreamed of racing on the World Stage? Well here is a huge opportunity! Enduro World Series have created a ‘Reserve List’ giving competitors an opportunity to gain points from racing in official EWS Qualifier Events from around the world. It is not an official entry to an EWS Event, but it is a huge leap forward for dedicated enduro compeittors. With these events in huge demand and often over-subscribed, it gives competitors in the ‘Reserve List’ an advantage when entering an Enduro World Series event.

Top ranked EMBA members competing in the 2017 Series will be added to the EWS Reserved List and will be eligible for priority registration for all the 2018 EWS Rounds. (100 Men, 40 Women, 20 Master 40+, 20 U21).
The winner in each official EWS category at every Qualifier Series will also be automatically added to the Reserved List (providing winner is an EMBA member).

There is no minimum number of races which must be completed in order to be included in the overall rankings.  But only a rider’s best 3 results will be counted in the final overall ranking.

Riders must be EMBA members (pro memberships) in order to be eligible to collect EWS Qualifier Series ranking points / be added to the EWS Reserved List.  Riders MUST have [EMBA] membership before the race – points will not be assigned retroactively.  The 2017 memberships will be available at the end of January once we open entries for the 2017 season.

WA Gravity Enduro present the final event results to EWS for their Reserve List points allocations.

Golden Grove is a private citric orchard on the perched on the foothills of the Avon Valley National Park producing some steep terrain for mountain biking. Making the most of the area, multiple tight off-camber turns keep the riders on edge as they negotiate raw trails simply defined by bunting. The long fast straight buzzing past orange orchards is certainly a highlight and tests your speed and commitment before tagging off at the bottom of the valley. Be sure to purchase the beautiful fresh orange juice before, during and after your race for maximum thirst-quenching! Not only will Golden Grove be in play, but we also race some special stages at Three Chillies Farm! We are privileged to host this special event only made possible with thanks to these private trails – surely one not to be missed!

Pemberton Mountain Bike Park – home of the sweeping timber berms that test your commitment! The Park offers hardpack clay berms cutting through magnificent Karri Trees right next door to the Permberton Townsite, Pemberton Camp School and Caravan Park – a popular accommodation choice. The race is featured as a ‘Double Header’ with the Cross-Country race on Saturday and the Gravity Enduro race on the Sunday making a great weekend getaway to race both or spectate. The trails are short but pack a punch and this event usually brings a cool change with ample shade cover or perhaps a little dip in the Swimming Pool or nearby dam.

16/03/2017

We have changed the WAGE Wippets U13 start time to 9:30am just to ensure plenty of clearance and safe racing from the main event. This should also give adults an opportunity to ride with their kids and allow time to enter the main race afterwards.

Open-face style helmets now permitted for WA Gravity Enduro, Pemberton! We strongly recommend full-face helmets especially if you have the equipment, however, MTBA have approved open-face style Australian Standards helmets for this race. An optional waiver must be signed at Check-In on raceday if you chose to race open-style helmets. Finding the right balance between inclusive racing but also safe racing is extremely important and we feel this is a fantastic outcome.

The waiver is outlined below:

OPTIONAL AND ADDITIONAL WAIVER TO WA GRAVITY ENDURO AND MTBA EVENT ENTRY

Rider Liability Waiver Information for the use of open-face style helmets

WA Gravity Enduro Round 2 – Pemberton, 2nd April 2017

WA Gravity Enduro strives to implement the necessary insurance conditions to promote and prioritise safe mountain bike racing for all volunteers, marshals, organisers, spectators and competitors to the best of our ability and to reflect this, WA Gravity Enduro must now enforce full-face helmets as an extra level of safety for our competitors when racing in the Gravity Enduro format.

In addition to the [already accepted as part of entry] MTBA Event Waiver and the WA Gravity Enduro Terms and Conditions found on the website, competitors are permitted to wear their Australian Standards open-face style helmet when competing in the Gravity Enduro race format for Round 2 of the WA Gravity Enduro 2017 Series in Pemberton on the 2nd  April 2017 only.

At no time can Mountain Bike Australia, WA Gravity Enduro, sponsor, supporter, competitor, volunteer, marshal, organiser, spectator or any other affiliated person or entity be sued for damages as a result of injury if a competitor chooses to wear an open-face style helmet for Round 2 of the WA Gravity Enduro 2017 Series in Pemberton on the 2nd April 2017.

Kalamunda Mountain Bike Park is one of the most popular mountain bike areas in Western Australia with many challenging trails to suit everyone from green trails for beginners to the black diamond south-shore style riding at Luvin’ Shovels, Kalamunda is infamous for its dry trails and ‘marble-like’ conditions with exposed pea-gravel ensuring you stay on the berm and avoid off camber turns. Some new alignments off Mt Gunjin will keep it fresh for the riders with spectators enjoying excellent viewing where multiple trails converge at the powerlines. With the race village NOW AT MUNDARING WEIR HOTEL, it will again be a fun celebration to open the 2017 WA Gravity Enduro Series!

Event Updates

CHANGE OF RACE VILLAGE VENUE – NOW MUNDARING WEIR HOTEL!

Huge thanks to Mundaring Weir Hotel for working with us to locate the Race Village in their huge entertainment area! This will give us heaps of room for sponsors and promoters and will be a great backdrop for presentations.

PLUS! SHUTTLES! Due to the change of venue, we are providing shuttles from the Mundaring Weir Hotel to the top of Mt Gunjin. Once you have finished your race, you will then be shuttled back to Mundaring Weir Hotel. Elite and Expert will be racing back. Note: shuttles will not run between stages – they are to carry you to and from the race village only.

10/01/2017

Registrations now open! Don’t forget we have two new racing categories for 2017 – Male U17 and Female Masters 50+ and for this round in Kalamudna, Handcycles are welcome!

If you finished in the top 10 of Male Expert in 2016, you should move to Male Elite. If you finished in the top 15 of Male Sport in 2016, you should move to Male Expert.

Finally, Full-Face Helmets are compulsory for all WA Gravity Enduro racing. The only exceptions may be Pemberton and Margaret River subject to MTBA approval.
