EVEDON PARK

One of the best Enduro venues on the calendar and we are thrilled to be able to return to this gem nestled in the Dardanup hills, just 30min east of Bunbury.

With parking, chalets and camping available on-site, it was easy to feel at home as competitors cooled off in a large swimming dam, hit the restaurant or bar and just relaxed in the manicured gardens. Looking forward to returning to Evedon Park. The trails are tough, raw and exciting and their are plenty of opportunities for spectators to catch the thrills and spills. Plus, we are aiming to add 2 new trails to this venue!

Course

These natural trails create an excellent Enduro course which include rock gardens, fast descents, multiple line choices and the signature ‘creek’ gap!

You’re ONLY opportunity to ride these trails all-year! Please do not contact Evedon Park to ride at any other time as it is not permitted under the zoning legislation of the Park.

Trespassers will be prosecuted and not permitted to attend the event.

Please do not jeapardise the awesome opportunity to race these awesome trails where everyone is on a level playing field!

ECHIDNA PARK, GERALDTON

NEW VENUE! Variety is the spice of life and we can’t wait to share with you a new mountain biking playground situated about 20mins east of Geraldton at Echidna Park Sporting Club!

These raw and technical trails have similarities to York with short, demanding descents on tight single tracks. With plenty of camping opportunities on-site and a very welcoming Club and Community, we look forward to taking you on a new mountain biking adventure!

Course

The larger Geraldton area is relatively flat so this rocky outcrop will have you seeing for miles around. What might lack in descending time is made up on technical rocky sections reminisce of York. A good network of single track will give competitors easy transitions into several descending trails across a tight area which will also give spectator ample viewing opportunities.

www.visitmandurah.com

www.dwellingup.destinationmurray.com.au

The event will showcase the lifestyle, culture and talent that makes Enduro racing so unique and exciting. The WA MTB Community will be on show with coaching, competitions, demonstrations, presentations, children’s entertainment, food and drink stalls and a huge Race Village showcasing the WA MTB Industry

PLUS, Enduro Racing!

This event is Round One of the WA Gravity Enduro Series 2022 and will also be an Enduro World Series Qualifier.

If you love Mountain Biking and Adventure with mates, this is the event for you!

Important changes from 2021

1) There are two capped shuttle departure times of 8:30am at 11:30am. First in, best dressed - make your selection through the Event Entry

2) MASKS ARE MANDATORY on Shuttle Buses at all times.

3) Please maintain a 1.5m physical distance within Race Village. Sanitise your hands upon entry and spectators please check-in with the COVID Safe App on arrival.

4) We expect more than 500 attendees and less than 2,500 at this event and will follow the necessary WA Health Department advice and COVID Plan. This event is exempt from Proof of Vaccination due to being a Sporting Event. However, we advocate strongly that all attendees should be fully vaccinated for their safety and the protection of our Community.

5) A Liquor License area will not be implemented due to the challenges of requiring and managing Proof of Vaccination.

Venue

The event takes in the best riding opportunities of Dwellingup. With the heart of the weekend at Race Village in Dwellingup, a hive of activity happen on and around the amazing Pump track facility. However, competitors and spectators are spoilt with dedicated shuttle transport to the amazing mountain bike trails of Murray Valley, about 15mins away.

Direction and Maps here.

Course

Intermediate to Advanced riders will appreciate the challenges of the trails, but competitors with at least one year of mountain biking experience will be able to descend the trails. All technical trail features and gap jumps have ‘B’ lines (slower, easier line). Race Courses are designed for the Team Category selected. For example, the Full Enduro (elite) competitors are required to complete 7 challenging trails plus a Saturday Pro Stage, whereas the Whippets U13 are only required to complete 3 of the easier stages available.

The Murray Valley Trails are a very popular destination and if you wish to avoid the crowds of race weekend, be sure to take a visit earlier before the event, particularly if you are not very familiar with the trails.

The Murray Valley Trail Network boasts many machine-shaped features and berms but also sport some rocky features and technical challenges. The excellent elevation of the trails offer nice long runs. Trees and natural bush get right up alongside the edge of the trail so when your speed increases, be sure to watch out for those immovable Jarrah Trees!

Parking

Free ample parking is available on the eastern side of the Dwellingup Oval. Follow the marshal directions at all times and:

– do not park in a way which can block access

– do not park in a way that could block other vehicles from moving

– do not park on the Dwellingup oval.

Always drive responsibly and carefully, there are many children and families in the area.

Spectators or competitors are welcome to drive to the Murray Valley Trails, however, you will be charged a Park Entry fee at the gate through DBCA. Follow the signs to Murray Valley Trails and park on the verge ensuring adequate manoeuvrability of all other vehicles. The dedicated shuttle road will be closed to all vehicles during the event.

Spectators

Spectators are welcome to jump on the Shuttle Bus with the riders and head to the Murray Valley Trails (when available) for delivery to the top of the hill at The Roost.

You can then descend the trails catching the action as you go, but always give way to riders who will be descending the trail at high speed.

When you see or hear a rider coming, very quickly move off the trail and stay at least 2 metres clear of riders and always stay behind course bunting tape and signage.

Always be aware of snakes, bring adequate hydration, plenty of sun protection and wear good walking shoes – trails can be treacherous in wet and dry conditions.

Spectators can jump back on the shuttle bus at The Roost or the Shuttle Collection Bays at the bottom of the hill for return back to Dwellingup.

Shuttles

Riders have the opportunity to practise on Saturday by purchasing a Shuttle Entry. Riders are collected from Race Village in Dwellingup and taken to the top of the Murray Valley Trails Network aka ‘The Roost.’ From there, they head down their race stages and get collected from the bottom for Shuttle lifts back up the hill!

We have two capped Saturday Shuttle Times to spread the riders across the day ensuring everyone gets plenty of time and reduces the boring queue.

Saturday Practise Shuttle Times leaving Dwellingup are 8:30am and 11:30am which can be booked as part of Event Entry.

Shuttles return to Race Village on demand from the Shuttle Collection queue at the trails.

On Sunday, riders will again lead to Race Village in Dwellingup for their race briefing before jumping on the Shuttle Bus to the trails. Race briefing is mandatory and you will need to collect and return your timing chip.

No private shuttling is permitted or possible on the Murray Valley Shuttle Road as it will be closed to the public for this event.

    GOAT FARM, PERTH

The first WA Gravity Enduro kicked off at the Goat Farm in 2014 and we love returning to this very challenging venue.

The venue is tightly compact and spectators have excellent opportunities to walk across an accessible firetrack watching riders cross in-front of them diving into some very challenging features.

Parking is extremely limited here. Do not block driveways on Greenmount Rise.

    Course

In 2021, the network saw its biggest ever investment which has turned the previously tired trails into an attractive and challenging network with National focus.

From compact machine-berms to wild rocky sections, the Goat Farm is a popular event for competitors and spectators being so close to Perth.

    Accommodation

Being a short drive from the Perth CBD, there are plenty of accommodation options nearby. Camping at the Goat Farm is not permitted.

    Parking

Parking is extremely limited at the Goat Farm. In 2022, we will aim to spread Sunday racing more across the day to further stagger the competitors in an effort to ease parking pressure. Additionally, we will aim to open more off-road parking areas around Race Village.

Never block driveways on Greenmount Rise. Rangers will be in force issuing fines for Parking Infringements.

As usual, carpool where possible and ride to the venue if possible.

    Spectators

    – it does not like noisy, busy environments

    PEMBERTON

A regular on the WA Gravity Enduro circuit, Pemberton Mountain Bike Park is nestled under towering Karri Trees right next door to the Pemberton Town Centre and local amenities.

The trails can vary considerably based on the time of year, and with this event taking place in May, expect loamy ‘hero-dirt’ with plenty of grip. Competitors also spend some time exploring the wider area, snapping up some local produce and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of the region

    Course

The term ‘hero-dirt’ is familiar with Pemberton due to its cooler soils under towering trees. However, there is a real mix of trail from the rowdy Wahoo offering rocky options to the refurbished Cool Runnings and Relentless Blue offering fantastic flow. The variety in trail makes it an excellent Enduro network.

2022 2 Margaret River and Dunsborough

    Start List

    TWO DAY ENDURO!

We can’t wait to return to this iconic south-west region overflowing with quality trails so close to Margaret River and Dunsborough. This two-day Enduro event is an exciting and interesting change on previous year’s as competitors must complete both days of racing in order to accumulate Series points.

Yep – you will be pedalling your little legs off! But, the flow of The Pines and the short and fast trails of Dunsborough will allow competitors from all stages in their mountain biking lifestyle to come out an have a rad Enduro time.

Competitors are welcome to race a single day but no Series points awarded.

    Venue

The Pines in Margaret River is managed by Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions in conjunction with the Margaret River Off-Road Cycling Association (MRORCA). The Pines offers short by flowy trails with some big-kickers in places and riders are often found looking up at the towering trees offering plenty of shelter over the trails. WA Gravity Enduro is required to donate $7 to DBCA for the ongoing management of the trail network and we look forward to raising money for MRORCA aswell.

Dunsborough, a short 30min drive from The Pines, has mountain bike trails integrated with the local Dunsborough and Districts Golf Course (DDGC). DDGC is an excellent venue and has been hosting us on their golf course for many years. With so many accommodation options available nearby and being on the doorstep to the Dunsborough town centre, the location is perfect for families and friends making the most of the weekend with plenty to do for everyone.

    Direction and Maps here.

    Course

The course at The Pines and Dunsborough are designed as a welcoming Enduro Event. The trails at both venues are very well constructed and maintained. Relatively flat, riders will be pedalling hard to maintain good momentum. With The Pines being under heavy tree canopies, it offers firm but forgiving soil. Dunsborough is quite the contrast with dry and loose conditions particularly in the drier months.

    Grading

    Technical Ability – Intermediate

    Physical Rating – 2

This is the approximate Course Grade for the most difficult category (Full Enduro)

    More information about Course Grading.

    Accommodation

Multiple caravan parks are available in and around both venues. Additionally, jump on Airbnb or similar as ample houses are also available for rent. Get in quick though as it is a long weekend!

    Parking

Parking is readily available along the existing fireroads in The Pines for free. As usual, park tightly together and do not block the trails or gates and ensure emergency access at all times.

There are multiple carparks around Dunsborough and DIstricts Country Club available for free. Overflow parking is permitted under the trees behind race village. No vehicles permitted on the golf course. Parking is extremely limited at Endicott Carpark. Do not park in residential areas or block driveways – Rangers are aware of the event and will be patrolling.

As usual, carpool where possible and ride to the venue if possible.

    Spectators

Spectators are welcome to walk up the side of trails but please ensure you are behind course bunting at all times and at least 2m off the trail when riders are descending. Look for Spectator points indicated on the Course Map for viewing opportunities. Always be aware of snakes, bring adequate hydration and wear good walking shoes. In The Pines, please try to avoid making shortcuts through the bush and walk on the side of the trails where it is safe to do so.
